DIY built in wardrobe removal?

Hi, I currently own a large two door built in wardrobe with shelving, I would like to remove this to create more space. Is there anyway for me to do this by myself and with limited cost involved? Has anyone got a step by step guide that I may be able to follow? Thank you for your time

  1. dont be afraid, just take a hammer and crowbar and go for it...........
  2. You can definitely do this by yourself. First, I would google how to make built in bookcases, shelving, wardrobe, something like that. Then you'll have a better feel for how it is constructed so that you can "desconstruct" it with minimal damage. Also, check out the discussion (with some photos) on this site which goes into how to remove built in shelves from a cabinet. I think between looking into how they are made, and how to removed built in shelves, you'll be armed with the knowledge you need to undertake this yourself. http://www.terrylove.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14188
