How to transition from kitchen cabinets to ceiling in mobile home?

I installed regular kitchen cabinets that, in a regular house, would have crown molding at the top, in a mobile home with 7 ft ceilings. For the most part, they are flush against the ceiling but because the ceiling is uneven, there are gaps in places. How can I cover this? Crown molding is not an option because there is just no room for it.

  1. You don't need to use full crown molding. Just buy a standard molding with a trim profile that looks OK with the cabinets -- you can get them as small as 1/2" quarter-round. Select one that will cover the gaps and use silicone or construction adhesive to attach it to the ceiling and cabinets.
  2. If there is absolutely no room for molding (the small thin stuff would work, as mentioned) use caulk in a color to match the cupboards as closely as possible. That way the uneven ceiling won't be noticeable.
