Who has the best deal on shelving? I need industrial strength? Specifically 30 feet of Shelving 10 feet tall, with about 5 shelves each unit. I want to put about 500lbs on each shelf
How do i build a concrete slab? I want to build a 12x12 concrete slab its only gonna be used to anchor some industrial metal shelving w/ sheets of metal or plastic for sides and roof, it will primarily be storage but will also be used to work on small motors and so will be exposed to gasoline, oil, etc. I live in CT and we get some real good freezes here how thick does the slab have to be? Do i need to use rebar? and can i just dig the hole and pour or do i need to do the whole stone and sand thing first?
Think the trillions spent in Iraq may have found an alternative green energy source? We actually have the technology, but the Military Industrial Complex, and Big Business have been shelving the alternatives for 6 decades or longer.
Where can I sell about 80 iron shelf end pieces and their associated cross members? This would be considered s I am the facilities manager for a company and have approximately 75 end pieces for industrial warehouse shelving that we would like to sell as scrap (recycle)
Would an Industrial Post shelf support a washer and dryer? I am moving into an apartment soon that has very little space. My problem: The best place to put out cat's litter box appears to be in the bathroom in the nook behind the door. However, that's where the washer and dryer live. They are stacked and there is not enough room beside them to place the litter box. Would an industrial post shelf be able to support this stack? Each shelf can hold up to 500lbs and they are quite stable, especially if you put extra supports between the legs. Here is a link to what I had in mind: http://www.storables.com/Shop/Shelving/Steel-Shelving/?launch_pg=itemPage&launch_sel=1007080&launch_pg_sp=true&title=18%26quot%3B+Industrial+Post+Steel+Shelf I work at the store that sells these products and I know that they are very strong, but I don't know much about washers or dryers, and I don't know if they would be too heavy for this shelf. I would feel really bad if the cat were to be smashed underneath the washer and dryer if the shelf failed...

How many find this discovery as a cheap way to make fuel for vehicles? Do you think this will be taken farther and actually find a way to use this for the replacement of gasoline? Water burns! Man looking for cancer cure hopes to solve energy crisis -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Posted: May 30, 2007 5:00 p.m. Eastern By Joe Kovacs © 2007 WorldNetDaily.com Is the solution to America's energy needs as simple as a trip to the beach? The idea is a fascinating one as a Florida man searching for a cancer cure may have stumbled onto a virtually limitless source of energy: salt water. John Kanzius, 63, is a broadcast engineer who formerly owned several TV and radio stations, before retiring in Sanibel Island, Fla. Five years ago, he was diagnosed with a severe form of leukemia, and began a quest to find a kinder, gentler way to treat the disease compared to harsh chemotherapy. In October 2003, he had an epiphany: kill cancer with radio waves. He then devised a machine that emits radio waves in an attempt to slay cancerous cells, while leaving healthy cells unharmed. His experiments in fighting cancer have become so successful, one physician was quoted as saying, "We could be getting close to grabbing the Holy Grail." But in the midst of his experiments as he was trying to take salt out of water, Kanzius discovered his machine could do what some may have thought was impossible: making water burn. "On our way to try to do desalinization, we came up with something that burns, and it looks in this case that salt water perhaps could be used as a fuel to replace the carbon footsteps that we've been using all these years, i.e., fossil fuels," Kanzius said. The possible ramifications of the discovery are almost mind-boggling, as cars could be fueled by salt water instead of gasoline, hydroelectric plants could be built along the shore, and homes could be heated without worrying about supplies of oil. "It doesn't have to be ocean salt water," Kanzius said. "It burns just as well when we add salt to tap water." Kanzius has partnered with Charles Rutkowski, general manager of Industrial Sales and Manufacturing, a Millcreek, Pa., company that builds the radio-wave generators. "I've done this [burning experiment] countless times and it still amazes me," Rutkowski told the Erie Times-News. "Here we are paying $3 a gallon for gas, and this is a device that seems to turn salt water into an alternative fuel." Kanzius has been told it's actually hydrogen that's burning, as his machine generates enough heat to break down the chemical bond between hydrogen and oxygen that makes up water. "I have never heard of such a thing," Alice Deckert, Ph.D., chairwoman of Allegheny College's chemistry department, told the Times-News. "There doesn't seem to be enough energy in radio waves to break the chemical bonds and cause that kind of reaction." Thus far, Kanzius' discovery has not received extensive national publicity, but has been featured on several local television news programs, including WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla., WSEE-TV in Erie, Pa., and WKYC-TV in Cleveland. "We discovered that if you use a piece of paper towel as a wick, it lights every single time and you can start it and stop it at will by turning the radio waves on and off," Kanzius told the Times-News as he watched a test tube of salt water burn. "And look, the paper itself doesn't burn," he added. "Well, it burns but the paper is not consumed." Kanzius said he hasn't decided whether to share his fuel discovery with government or private business, though he'd prefer a federal grant to develop it. "I'm afraid that if I join up with some big energy company, they will say it doesn't work and shelve it, even if it does work," Kanzius told the paper. Video of TV news reports of water burning can be seen from these affiliates: WPBF-TV in West Palm Beach, Fla. WSEE-TV in Erie, Pa. WKYC-TV in Cleveland
Where can I find a good supplier of fast food restaurant equipment? Hey, A good friend, and fellow business partner, has asked me to help him identify some good (i.e. inexpensive, yet quality) suppliers or sellers of fast food preparation equipment. We are currently looking to supply a single restaurant, so we will not need an equipment whole seller. This venture, fast food, is a new entrepreneurial endeavor for the both of us, so any help or advice you'd be able to lend is much appreciated. Our list of equipment to buy is as follows: * Oven (for pizza baking and bread for sandwiches) * Food line (a general "assembly line" style table for sandwich preparation, similar to that of Subway sandwiches) * Food preparation tables * Industrial bread maker * Shelving * Bread proofer * Bread racks * Pans * Serving Baskets/plates * Napkins * Forks/knives/spoons (plastic) * Buckets/lids for stored food * Large commercial freezer * Walk-in cooler * Refrigerator (optional) * Industrial slicer * Knives/cutting boards * Pizza roller * Three sink Much Thanks! Anyone have some suggestions for decorating combination front office/reception area? I've been asked to assist with decorating the combination front office/reception area of a non-profit organization that works with people who have various disabilities. The room is rectangular in shape, with neutral color walls and tile flooring. When you walk in, you are immediately in a small waiting area with a few chairs situated beneath the only window in the room. The window, which faces the parking lot, is large and rectangular shaped. It has white "industrial style" blinds over it. Directly in front of this seating area is the receptionist's desk, which is located near the right-hand wall. The desk is a grayish-white color and has a slightly modern/edgy look to it. The wall the desk is by is completely empty. Some shelving is needed there. This space definitely needs a shot of color and personality! A rug could possibly be used in receptionist's desk area, but can't be used elsewhere in the room due to safety issues. It may be possible to paint one wall a different color than what's already there. What color scheme, style of window covering, wall shelving and misc. accents would you suggest, and are there any office decorating web sites you might suggest that are along the lines of what you suggest? (I'm a very visual person and it helps me to have some things to look at for inspiration.) Thanks in advance!
Dream About A Very Unpleasant Place? I'm standing alone in a dark, cavernous room, which seems to be underground. It has a black oriental-style carpet, and there are open cardboard boxes laying everywhere, filled with all kinds of hardware. An enormous industrial fan of some sort is built into a nearby wall, and is roaring loudly. I already feel a sense of impending dread, and I am holding a clipboard and pencil, trying to take inventory of all of the items spilling out of the boxes around me. I am reciting their names aloud, in a very slurred and tired-sounding voice. "Four screws. Two metal shelving bins. Five small pieces of plywood. Three buckets concrete mix." I am continuously looking nervously over my shoulder, trying to work my way across the room as quickly as possible. I then realize that there are a series of rooms, connected by a narrow walkway. Each room appears to get smaller and smaller, and there is a sense of extreme claustrophobia. I am now shouting out the names of the items laying around me, because I am too terrified to actually stand there as I write them down. All of a sudden, I hear a noise behind me and all of the lights go out in the room. I start running frantically into the next room, hyperventilating. The walls continue to get narrower, and the lights continue to turn out. I glance behind me, and there is only a sea of pitch blackness. The roaring sound of the fan grows louder and louder and louder, until it is absolutely deafening. I am tripping over piles of wrenches, saw blades, concrete bricks and sheets of plexiglass. Cardboard boxes are crunching under my feet. The room is getting very dusty, and I can hardly breathe. Suddenly, absolutely everything turns black and I am swallowed into the darkness before I wake up screaming.
Crunch time....business hanging in the balance.....? My business seems to be hanging in the balance at the moment......one client owes me £6000 (total owed £7000 roughly)...I have to pay £600 VAT this month (which hints at how little money has been coming in lately)..I have an £8000 debt outstanding...I have 10,000 items waiting in a dock in China but the client who wants them can't pay the second half of the fee...so I can't send it off to get the goods released. The deadline is days away. I actually have the money in the bank (I loaned my busness the last of my personal savings to clear the overdraft and to provide some working capital) but my wife (Company Secretary) is strongly against me using my funds to get the goods released since it will put us overdrawn again and will risk our last bit of dosh. I need to think hard before doing it anyway. Several expected jobs haven't matrerialised because some of my clients are builders and they haven't got any money at the moment. Tomorrow I am meeting with my biggest client to review a new lump of work. If they give the nod then I am out of immediate danger but if not : if they shelve the work or only commission a part of it then I won't have the cash flow to continue. I'll have to let my industrial unit go and sack my secretary etc i.e., drastically cut my costs. If I do get the big contract that creates a whole new set of problems which there isnt space here to explain but its work I feel challenged by. The big problem though is my own motivation: I just don't have the motivation at the moment. After 8 years of pushing and living on peanuts and investing everything I just don't have the energy for another big push...I have a lot to do to be ready for tomorrow's meeting but almost can't be bothered..it seems so pointless.....I know that must sound pathetic but the years of struggle have battered my resilience...Any thoughts!?
Anyone here really know how the Maginot Line was originally planned? There is a lot of misconcpetion of the Maginot Line. This is an excerpt from tghe New York Times: Prophets of War" (The Week in Review, Jan. 13), on the Persian Gulf, gives the Maginot Line as an example of how the best-laid war plans go astray. You state that Andre Maginot's "plan for a French defensive line failed in World War II." It was less Maginot's plan that failed than the changes wrought by subsequent civilian and military leaders. Maginot, a 1920's French minister of defense, envisioned a network of defensive fortifications along France's eastern frontier to provide the covering force for an eventual offensive riposte against Germany. His successors shelved the counteroffensive strategy, and the line became purely defensive. Moreover, the decision to halt construction of the wall at the Belgian border was an oversight of neither Maginot nor later French military authorities. As Barry Posen, Judith Hughes and other historians point out, the French war planners sought to channel a German attack through Belgium. This was to permit a French advance into Belgium (protecting France's northern industrial regions); guarantee Britain's entry into the conflict (because of proximity of Belgian and Dutch seaports to its coasts), and export the war onto foreign soil. Unfortunately, these plans were undermined by Belgium's declaration of neutrality in 1936 and changes in strategy, most notably Gen. Maurice Gamelin's attempt to push the Allied front as far as the Netherlands, which overextended the French forces and depleted their operational reserves. This ill-considered thrust allowed the German Panzer divisions to slice through the Ardennes and sweep to the English Channel. If one is determined to find some relevance in the history of the Maginot Line, it is the need to maintain military, diplomatic and political objectives in the closest possible accord. ROBERT ZARETSKY Houston, Jan. 18, 1991 The writer is an assistant professor of history, University of Houston. Additionally,Andre Maginot, the man who the Maginot line is named after and the man who brought the concept of building a powerful defense system in France did not plan the Maginot Line to be one long fortification of bunkers and trenches designed only for defensive purpose. He actuaLLY ENVISIONED A DEFENSE SYSTEM THAT WAS POWERFUL in defense while being flexible at the same time to allow quick manuever and a powerful swift counterattack. This quote sums up his vision: "We could hardly dream of building a kind of Great Wall of France, which would in any case be far too costly. Instead we have foreseen powerful but flexible means of organizing defense, based on the dual principle of taking full advantage of the terrain and establishing a continuous line of fire everywhere."—10 December 1929 Unfortunately,Andre Maginot died before the defense project ever began. The Maginot Line was then designed by other generals and politicians who foolishlty decided to make the defense a long line of bunkers and trenches instead of the flexible defense Andre Maginot invisioned. How do yout think history would be like if Andre Maginot actually lived to create the defense system the way he envisioned it?I believe France wouldn't have fallen and that WW2 would have been longer nad more like a stalemate.
Why PM went for Nuclear liability Bill that would clip wings of India’s nuclear technology? Former chairman of the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board, A. Gopalakrishnan, has said the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Bill will lead to clipping the wings of India’s indigenous nuclear technology capabilities. Mr. Gopalakrishnan, a stringent critic of the India-U.S. nuclear deal, told The Hindu that the new law would open the doors for the U.S. and French nuclear industry to “extensively sell their very costly and unproven light-water reactors (LWR) to India.” He said that back in 2008, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had, without consulting the Indian Parliament or the public, promised the U.S. administration to purchase 10,000 MWe worth of LWRs from that country. This, Mr. Gopalakrishnan claimed, was under pressure from the U.S. administration for getting the `123’ agreement passed by the U.S. Congress. Mr. Singh had also promised French President Nicholas Sarkozy to purchase French reactors, in return for his help to circumvent the Nuclear Suppliers Group’s conditions. Without a liability law that lets the reactor manufacturers off the hook in case of a nuclear accident, these companies would not dare to do business with India, he said. Mr. Gopalakrishnan pointed out that India is a leading country in thorium breeder reactor technology and is poised to build thorium-based reactors routinely by 2040. The country had abundant resources of thorium raw material in the sands of Kerala’s shores. He contended that the plan to import 40,000 MWe worth reactors during 2015-35 would shelve the thorium-based breeder reactor technology currently under development. “We have two generations of top-class nuclear scientists and engineers who have been painstakingly trained; we have the technological and industrial capability; and we have abundant raw materials,” he said. “All these will go to waste if we predominantly start relying on the import of the highly expensive U.S. and French reactors.” Mr. Gopalakrishnan thinks that had Prime Minister Singh’s secret promise (in the form of a letter by India’s Foreign Secretary to the U.S. Under-Secretary of State) on September 10, 2008 been made public at the time, the Opposition parties and the public would not have perhaps let the India-U.S. nuclear deal through. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/article582271.ece The PM and his govt had repeatedly proved that national interests are of least concern to them. The low compensation agreed against the Bhopal tragedy with US based Union Carbide by Rajiv in the past, is typical of the present sell out of our interests "to adhere to the Convention on Supplementary Compensation (CSC) for Nuclear Damage..." whereby the national law should legally channel the liability for all nuclear accidents in India absolutely to the `operator’ of the nuclear facility!!! What are your views on this suicidal deals of the UPA govt? Dear Pquaint, I wish to answer your points: You say: 1. Before attempting to answer this question, I'd like to read the views of Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Dr. Srikumar Banerjee and Dr. R. K. Sinha also. Like "one swallow doesn't make a summer"...this person's views need to be validated by other nuclear scientists too. We know that it requires lot of grit to speak hard truths against a serious wrong of a powerful Govt like UPA’s about whose chairperson, even Media thinks several times before a comment! If as much exposures as about Sonia family’s alleged deposits abroad had been made against any other leader in the country, the media would have made tons of comments by now! But they keep studied silence when the Task Force under Gurumoorthy publishes details before the Press Reporters daring Govt to take action if they were proved wrong! So I would least expect most elite critics and bureaucrats or scientists to speak out against Govt in the sensitive issue! 2. PM being In charge of DAE 2. PM being In charge of DAE wouldn't make any deal without consulting eminent scientists...and weighing all pros and cons!!! In that case let him give his rejoinder to the elite scientist who spoke to the media. A person of Dr G’s stature would not talk serious things without solid facts, like politicians do. And we had seen how the MM govt had acted in the various issues! He would not hesitate to call even the infamous Spectrum deals as akin to ''food subsidy''! 3. By now I have pretty good idea of political leanings of members like yourself and a few other answerers who suspect EVERY move Congress leaders make...totally ignoring and/or overlooking the fact that India has made great progress in science and technology under the able leadership and policies of Congress party. Yes I do not make any secret of my serious doubts about the Congress leaders just as people of your group do about the major opposition groups! But people know, learned sister, that any progress in any field any field in the country is happening in spite of the bunglings of this govt! The talk of Second Green Revolution etc are still pathetically sneering at us! 4. To say that "The PM and his govt had repeatedly proved that national interests are of least concern to them" is SLANDEROUS!!! Please note that I had not blindly commented in the forum about any contentious issue without good reasons. Mr Gopalakrishnan had not given just his sweet opinions without facts, but given plausible reasons and facts which you cannot call ‘’slanderous’’
Am I using diatomaceous earth incorrectly to kill bed bugs? In the building that i live in at the moment has a huge bed bug problem. Now I have bed bugs in my apartment. The exterminator came 5 days ago and sprayed. The following evening I was still getting bites. I read somewhere online about DE. I bought a bag and last night put it in a salt shaker and went crazy pouring it all over the edge of my apartment. All around my bed and under the mattress.. Just the whole outline of the apartment. Around the furniture etc. My nose is dry, i have a headache. My cat is very small and I can tell she doesn't like it. (She climbed all the way to the top of this closet shelve and i just don't know how she did it! after pouring this stuff all over. Is this stuff bad to inhale? Is it just as bad as breathing asbestos? My neighbor says i have to leave it for 10 days and then vacuum it. And how I should just bag everything with BLACK industrial size plastic bags and lay them out in the sun so the bugs can heat up and die...I used whtie plastic bags.. and bought some plastic storage containers to store my clean laundry and she was like it's not good cuz they probably will crawl in anyways.. I am just going crazy! I just read so many different things I don't know what to do. and I am worried about my cat. And am not too crazy about the exterminator coming back again in two weeks to spray cuz then we will have to leave again for 6 hours .. and i have no money to take her to the vet to hang out. And i have also read horrible things about pets getting sick because of the bug spray.. HELP PLEASE I AM DESPERATE! Hello thanks for your prompt response. It is NOT the kind for swimming pools. http://www.pcsoutdoors.com/saferbrandantandcrawlingdiatomaceousearthinsectkiller4lbpowder5170b.aspx This is a link that shows which one I bought. So tomorrow I will get a mask and vacuum it. Should I put more of it down again? did i just used it excessively? There is this whole ordeal (legally) going on in the building already. The cheap ass landlord is just stretching it. I just wanted to do something extra between now and the next time the pest control guy comes back. Anybody have any other suggestions on how to properly store linens and clothes? Do i have to consider saran wrapping the containers shut?
